Miracle StoriesMy precious wife and I have witnessed countless miracles, in numerous nations of the world. In His love, the Savior, the Lord Jesus, through His Body on earth, is performing amazing miracles, that draw attention to Him. We have chronicled numerous miracle stories over the years and we are in awe of the mighty works of the Holy Spirit. These miracles stories must be told, as the world is in dire need of the power of God!We have written a number of small volumes that will inspire and equip believers to perform miracles in Jesus name. These books chronicle many of the various miracles we have witnessed through the years of global ministry. (The volumes are available through our publishers. Be sure to browse our "Books by Jay Bartlett" section for more details) The Lord Jesus tells us, “Believe me when I say that I am in the Father and the Father is in me; or at least believe on the evidence of the miracles themselves. I tell you the truth, anyone who has faith in me will do what I have been doing. He will do even greater things than these, because I am going to the Father. And I will do whatever you ask in my name, so that the Son may bring glory to the Father” (John 14:11-14). King Jesus desires to utilize your life, as a holy instrument, to carry out miracles in our day. He promises, "I will do whatever you ask in my name." Let's turn to the living God and believe Him to do great wonders through our lives for His glory. What is a Miracle? A miracle is “an extraordinary event manifesting divine intervention in human affairs” (Merriam-Webster). God’s Word is filled with miracles; from Genesis to Revelation, there are literally hundreds of miracles specifically mentioned. Jesus' life was characterized by undeniable miracles. He was born of a Virgin, was bodily resurrected, and ascended to heaven. In the Sacred Scriptures, we read of many miracles including the Virgin birth, the raising of the dead, calming of a storm, turning water into wine, walking on water, creating food, the healing of the sick, and the delivering of souls from demons. In fact, the Bible tells us, “Jesus did many other miraculous signs in the presence of his disciples, which are not recorded in this book. But these are written that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that by believing you may have life in his name” (John 20:31). Only God knows all the miracles that the Son performed. We know, though, He did “many” other miracles. God is a miracle working God. He enjoys performing miracles. Specifically, we see Jesus considering the casting out of demons and the ministry of healing as samples of a miracle in the Scriptures. “Teacher," said John, "we saw a man driving out demons in your name and we told him to stop, because he was not one of us." "Do not stop him," Jesus said. "No one who does a miracle in my name can in the next moment say anything bad about me, for whoever is not against us is for us” (John 9:38-40). Jesus replied, "Go tell that fox that I will keep on casting out demons and doing miracles of healing today and tomorrow; and the third day I will accomplish my purpose” (Luke 13:32). Reasons for Miracles 1. It reminds us of how great our God truly is. “Look to the LORD and his strength; seek his face always. Remember the wonders he has done, his miracles, and the judgments he pronounced” (1 Chronicles 16:12). “Then I thought, "To this I will appeal: the years of the right hand of the Most High." I will remember the deeds of the LORD; yes, I will remember your miracles of long ago. I will meditate on all your works and consider all your mighty deeds…You are the God who performs miracles; you display your power among the peoples.” (Psalm 77:10-12, 14). 2. God in the flesh-Jesus-performed miracles to prove His divinity. “The Jews gathered around him, saying, "How long will you keep us in suspense? If you are the Christ, tell us plainly." Jesus answered, "I did tell you, but you do not believe. The miracles I do in my Father's name speak for me, but you do not believe because you are not my sheep” (John 10:24-26). “Do not believe me unless I do what my Father does. But if I do it, even though you do not believe me, believe the miracles, that you may know and understand that the Father is in me, and I in the Father" (John 10:37-38). 3. Miracles draw attention to Jesus. “Now when he was in Jerusalem at the Passover, in the feast day, many believed in his name, when they saw the miracles which he did” (John 2:23). “After these things Jesus went over the sea of Galilee, which is the sea of Tiberias. And a great multitude followed him, because they saw his miracles which he did on them that were diseased” (John 6:1-2). 4. Miracles confirm the preaching of the gospel message. “And they went out and preached everywhere, while the Lord kept working with them and confirming the message by the attesting signs and miracles that closely accompanied it. Amen” (Mark 16:20). “So Paul and Barnabas spent considerable time there, speaking boldly for the Lord, who confirmed the message of his grace by enabling them to do miraculous signs and wonders” (Acts 14:3). 5. Miracles help hurting people. “Therefore those who were scattered went everywhere preaching the word. Then Philip went down to the city of Samaria and preached Christ to them. And the multitudes with one accord heeded the things spoken by Philip, hearing and seeing the miracles which he did. For unclean spirits, crying with a loud voice, came out of many who were possessed; and many who were paralyzed and lame were healed. And there was great joy in that city” (Acts 8:4-8). “Now God worked unusual miracles by the hands of Paul, so that even handkerchiefs or aprons were brought from his body to the sick, and the diseases left them and the evil spirits went out of them” (Acts 19:11-12). 6. Miracles are for the common good. “Now to each one the manifestation of the Spirit is given for the common good. To one there is given through the Spirit the message of wisdom, to another the message of knowledge by means of the same Spirit, to another faith by the same Spirit, to another gifts of healing by that one Spirit, to another miraculous powers, to another prophecy, to another distinguishing between spirits, to another speaking in different kinds of tongues, and to still another the interpretation of tongues. All these are the work of one and the same Spirit, and he gives them to each one, just as he determines” (1 Corinthians 12:7-11). |
